There is no entry gate for the park so paying the $30 fee is on the honor system. There are so many things to see so you will want as long as possible in the park! To make a day trip you’ll really have to be staying in Las Vegas, as no other city is close enough to make it worth it. Where is Death Valley?ĭeath Valley is in the Mojave Desert in southern California, about a two hour drive west of Las Vegas and 4.5 hours northeast of LA. From LA a day trip really is not possible. It’s a land of extremes, containing the lowest point in the US (and one of the lowest on earth) and not far from the highest point in the contiguous US (Mt.
